DEREK T. BATTS, JD, Mr. Batts is a founder and the Portfolio Manager of Union Heritage Capital Management. In addition to leading the firm, his responsibilities include day-to-day management of client portfolios and stock selection. Prior to joining Union Heritage, Mr. Batts was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of KB & A, Inc., a firm providing financial consulting services to major municipalities and corporations. Mr. Batts is a shareholder of SBK-Brooks Investment Corp., an affiliated institutional brokerage and investment banking firm headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. He serves as vice president of the Detroit chapter of the National Association of Securities Professionals.  Mr. Batts earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Wayne State University and his law degree from the Detroit College of Law.

SONYA ARCHER-FAIRLEY, Ms. Archer-Fairley is the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. She has over 10 years of accounting, budgeting, and project management experience. Prior to joining Union Heritage, Ms. Archer-Fairley was employed with the City of Detroit for over 18 years. She served in various positions within the City of Detroit’s Finance Department, including Manager of Taxpayer Services (Income Tax) and Principal Accountant with the Project Administration Division.  She has received the “Spirit of Detroit” and “City of Detroit’s World Class Service Team” awards. Ms. Archer-Fairley graduated with honor and earned her bachelor’s degree in management from Detroit College of Business.

DAWN L. SCOTT, Ms. Scott is the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer. She has over 15 years of experience in account management, strategic business development, accounting, and project management. Prior to joining Union Heritage, Ms. Scott served in various positions at Arthur Andersen, Detroit Edison, Pierce, Monroe & Associates and SMG consulting. She serves as the board chairperson of the Michigan chapter of the Volunteers of America, a member of Volunteers of America national board and has lectured at the University of Michigan. Ms. Scott earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University and her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
